Working again!

Wed May 12, 2004, 2:53 PM
I've been doing freelance right along, but the $$ hasn't been steady or consistent. I love writing for this particular newspaper, and I hope it eventually leads to a steady job, but essentially we've been a 2-person financial obligationl household on a 1-person income since March 1.
Things have been tight. So I went to a local department store last week. My husband works there, and I worked for the company up in Atlanta. They hired me as a shoe stockperson.
I really enjoy it. It's challenging and I get to be behind the scenes. My main task has been organizing the stockroom: things have been put every-which-way, and it's been wild. In Atlanta, I worked the register and folded clothes. This is a lot more fun!
It feels good to be contributing to the family again.
My son is going to daycare full-time, but is home by 4 everyday. So it's not a sunup-to-sundown situation at all.
Speaking of my son, we had the meeting with the school principal, the county's autism specialist, his therapist, and his future teacher.
On recent autism tests, Sean passed with flying colors, meaning he doesn't meet qualifications for autism or special services. In other words, he's just a regular kid. Socially, he's at his age range, but academically he's at a 6 year old level. They recommended testing him for gifted in a few years, if this keeps up.
It's full-speed ahead now for him attending the pre-K.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Watching American Idol and Jesus Christ Superstar ? [holds up a cross in horror movie fashion] ;)
Although you're forgiven if you listen to the Beach Boys
Pet Sounds is fantastic

Thanks for looking at my page! Sorry, I don't much like the Beach boys. I like more Motown, 4 Tops, "Brown-Eyed Girl," Swinging Medalions, CCR type of music.

Guess I'm not forgiven!

Welcome to Deviantart! Te collective rectum :fella: looks forward to your contributions as a fellow deviant!

So who are you rooting for on American Idol? Any favorites?
:iconashley1972:
I like Fantasia the best. She really did an awesome performance of Porgy and Bess the other night. I was shocked to see JPL eliminated. I thought he had more staying power than John Stevens.

I have to support Diana since she's from Georgia, but she's too hardened and child-star-professional to me. No emotion.

I also love George Huff.

So in a nutshell, think it'll come down to Huff or Fantasia.

How about you?
:iconzero77:
I liked John Peter Lewis because of his energy, and was dissapointed to see him go:nod:

I have a soft spot for John Stevens though, because of his music style. I'm a big Sinatra fan. He needs to whip himself into shape if he wants to stay, I can't believe he wasn't voted off after he forgot the words to his songs a few weeks ago!

I think Jennifer Hudson has a descent voice, yet she reminds me of a cartoon character with her facial expressions and, dear god, her clothing. Therefore, I'd have to agree with you about Huff and Fantasia taking on one another in the end. My money's on Fantasia:nod:

Nice takling to ya!

Thanks for your opinions! It'll be interesting to see if we're right. Good talking to you!

Just a thought...if you're gonna hang out and have a journal and all...how about some creative writing? If your favorite tool is paper and pen, why not use it for something fun? I'd like to see where your writing has brought you since high school (remember study hall?) Otherwise we can just use email to communicate.
Talk to you later!

Ford looked angrily at him. 'Will you listen?' he snapped. 'I have been listening,' said Arthur, 'but I'm not sure it's helped'..."

I'll keep that in mind! Haven't really worked on fiction since study hall days, but it might be worth brushing up on.

I have more fun reading some newspapers for the typos than the actual news content.
